Let’s talk holiness

Righteousness is a gift. Holiness is a choice.

Living in a way that pleases our Heavenly Father adds a unique dimension to our lives. It's like stepping into a reality where Jesus becomes tangible, actively manifesting Himself. As we explore the path of holiness, His power comes alive within us.

I believe when the Body of Christ starts to lean back into holiness again we will see another dimension of God's Glory.

Take Azusa Street, for instance—a revival in California in the 20th century. People's lives were completely transformed, and the supernatural became natural. They were known as "holiness" people because their lives stood out. Unfortunately, many today aren't familiar with the concept of holiness and the connection to the Glory that it brings.

Understand that I'm not talking about legalism. It's not about what we can do to get god to love us, He already does. Jesus already died and rose from the dead to secure our righteousness... We're talking about holiness.

Righteousness is what we receive at the point of salvation, but holiness is a different journey. It means choosing to be separated for God and living according to His Word. Holiness is a decision of the will, shaping our conduct and actions to please Him.

Andrew Wommack says it like this, "Holiness is a fruit, not the root." It's not a way to earn God's love but a natural outcome of our relationship with Him. Living holy isn't about getting God to respond to us; it's our response to His love.

How do we live a holy life? Firstly, disconnect from the world. Romans 12:2 advises us not to conform to the world's ways. This means our thoughts, actions, and behaviors should reflect Jesus, standing out from worldly influences. It involves being mindful of what we feed our minds, as influences shape our perspective.

Secondly, flee from temptation. 2 Timothy 2:22 encourages us to resist and flee from evil desires. We have the power to overcome temptation, and it's our responsibility to keep ourselves pure. When faced with temptation, we rebuke it in the Name of Jesus, cast down thoughts that try to exalt themselves of God, and actively choose not to entertain sinful thoughts.

Lastly, obey the Word of God. 1 Peter 1:15 emphasizes being holy in all we do. Living separated to God involves ordering our conduct according to His Word and the Holy Spirit's guidance. It's a consistent commitment to obeying His commandments and standing out as distinct from the world.

Living a holy life is not about being perfect but about making choices aligned with God's will. It's a journey of continuous separation from worldly influences and a commitment to obeying God's Word.

Here’s a simple prayer to begin your journey into holiness:

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus, thanking You that You have made me righteous. You have seated me in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, but I feel the call to come deeper with You. I feel a call to holiness. Holy Spirit, show me ways that I can disconnect from the world, flee from temptation, and obey the Word of God. I commit to honor You with my life and I consecrate my spirit, soul, and body to You today. Amen.
